Puff Pastry Christmas Treats

Countdown to Christmas

It’s the countdown to Christmas and I’m in the festive season. Food is my love language after all, whether it’s making something to share, gifting a special treat, or even just being fed… well I love food!

Christmas is one of those odd times in Australia when it comes to food. Do we want those comfort, heartwarming foods that fit the winter weather of an American Christmas? Or do we want the summery BBQ delights that make an Australian Christmas so iconic? Well why have the luxury of choosing both (especially with this Victorian weather we’ve been having, it’s essential).

Whether you’re into the festive foods of the season with the gingerbread and cranberries thrown everywhere, or would prefer to keep it simple and seasonal, I’ve collated 24 recipes that are simple, festive, and will help you have the best Christmas feast.

24 Days of Christmas

In the spirit of a countdown, every day a new recipe will be released:

  • Baked Lemon Hummus

    Baked Lemon Hummus

    Cooks in 20 minutesDifficulty: Easy

Whilst baking hummus just sounds like an extra step in the process, don’t underestimate how much it elevates this dish. With thyme and lemon aromatics throughout your house, it’s a dish that’ll impress without needing to try.

  • Chocolate Coins

    Difficulty: Easy

I’ve always been a sucker for a chocolate bark, but sometimes the thin nature of it melting in your hands can make it awkward to eat or store. These chocolate coins are the easy solution, with all the flavours you love in a convenient bite, made picture perfect.

  • Crispy Polenta Potatoes

    Cooks in 60 minutesDifficulty: Easy

My crispiest potatoes yet, these polenta potatoes are of the elite status

  • Cheats Chocolate Mousse

    Cheats Chocolate Mousse

    Cooks in 12 minutesDifficulty: Easy

Growing up mum used to make this cheats chocolate mousse and I always thought that’s how it was made, we didn’t know any difference and we loved it. Use this for a cheats dessert alongside any red fruit, and I’m sure they won’t know either.

  • Spiced Chickpea Tabbouleh

    Difficulty: Easy, Medium

This spiced chickpea tabbouleh is one of my absolute favourites and has been a staple for a while, and you can see why! Perfect for making as a share plate with friends, this will leave you dipping back for more.

  • Gingerbread Scrolls

    Gingerbread Scrolls

    Cooks in 170 minutesDifficulty: Medium

I’ve baked a lot of things in my life, and I will say a lot of those things have been superb (especially my cookies), but when I say these scrolls take it to the next level and are the best things I’ve baked so far I truly mean it.
