Sticky Beef Bowl

Sticky Beef Bowls

Now this recipe was insanely easy to put together, that easy I was able to enjoy my lunch break whilst making it from scratch. If you’re in a hurry or want a lazy meal, this one will give a flavour punch.

You can substitute the strips for tofu in this bowl, and any greens will work (just use what you’ve got!).

Ingredients

  • 2 TBS 2 Cornflour

  • 1 tsp 1 White pepper

  • 500 grams 500 “Beef” strips (I’ve used @meetco)

  • 3 TBS 3 Sesame Oil

  • 2 TBS 2 Hoisin Sauce

  • 2 TBS 2 Soy sauce

  • 2 TBS 2 Kecap Manis

  • 3 3 Spring Onions, sliced

  • 4 tsp 4 Minced Ginger

  • 500 grams 500 Pre-cooked Rice

  • 2 tsp 2 sesame seeds

  • 1 1 bunch Broccolini

Directions

  • Combine cornflour and pepper in a bowl and toss beef strips in to coat.
  • Heat a wok over high heat, adding 1 TBS sesame oil. Cook the broccolini, then the beef (in batches if necessary), and set both aside separately.
  • In the meantime make the sauce by combining the oyster sauce, soy sauce, kecap Manis & 2 TBS water in a bowl.
  • Add another TBS of oil to the wok and fry 2 of the onions until softened. Add the ginger and stir-fry for 1 minute or until fragrant.
  • Return beef to the pan alongside the sauce and fry for 2 minutes or until sauce thickens to the desired consistency.
  • Serve with the pre-cooked rice, broccolini, and scatter sesame seeds on top and extra spring onion.
